PFSO Executive Board Officer Roles

2026–2027 School Year

This page provides a high-level overview of the Executive Board officer roles of the Foothill Technology High School Parent Faculty Student Organization (PFSO) for the 2026–2027 school year.

Officers serve one-year terms beginning July 1, 2026. All roles are volunteer positions.

This overview is informational only. Eligibility, authority, and election procedures are governed by the PFSO Bylaws and Handbook.

Election Timeline (2026–2027)

  • The proposed slate of Executive Board officers will be presented to the Board at the February 24, 2026 meeting.

  • Elections will be held at the May 5, 2026 meeting, in accordance with the PFSO Bylaws.

  • Nominations from the floor are permitted as provided in the Bylaws.

Submission of the form does not guarantee nomination or election. All nominees are contacted to verify eligibility and willingness to serve.

President

Primary role: Organizational leadership and coordination

Responsibilities include:

  • Presiding at Executive Board and general meetings

  • Coordinating the work of officers and committees

  • Serving as an ex officio member of committees (except Nominating)

  • Representing PFSO to the school and broader community, or designating a representative

Helpful background:
Prior Executive Board service or comparable nonprofit leadership experience is preferred.

Notes:
The President typically does not vote except as permitted under parliamentary rules.

First Vice President (Finance / Fundraising)

Primary role: Fundraising coordination and financial planning support

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting and coordinating fundraising activities

  • Assisting with budget development and financial planning

  • Collaborating with the Treasurer and relevant committees

  • Assuming presidential duties when the President is unavailable

Helpful background:
Experience with fundraising, budgeting, or nonprofit finance is beneficial.

Second Vice President (Principal)

Primary role: School liaison and administrative collaboration

Responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the liaison between PFSO and school administration

  • Participating in Executive Board discussions and decisions

  • Supporting alignment between PFSO activities and school priorities

Notes:
This position is held by the current Principal of Foothill Technology High School and is not subject to nomination or election.

Third Vice President (Community) — Optional Position

Primary role: Community engagement and volunteer connection

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading community-building and appreciation efforts

  • Supporting volunteer engagement and morale

  • Serving as a visible PFSO ambassador at school and community events

Notes:
This position is optional and may be left vacant. If unfilled, responsibilities may be reassigned by the Executive Board.

Secretary

Primary role: Records, documentation, and official correspondence

Responsibilities include:

  • Recording and maintaining accurate meeting minutes

  • Managing official records and notices

  • Preserving records in required physical and electronic formats

  • Supporting transparency and compliance through documentation

Helpful background:
Strong organizational skills and comfort with written communication.

Treasurer

Primary role: Financial stewardship and reporting

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing deposits, disbursements, and account reconciliation

  • Maintaining accurate financial records

  • Presenting financial reports to the Executive Board

  • Ensuring compliance with approved budgets and financial controls

Helpful background:
Experience with bookkeeping, accounting software, or nonprofit financial management.

Parliamentarian

Primary role: Governance and parliamentary guidance

Responsibilities include:

  • Advising on parliamentary procedure and bylaws interpretation

  • Ensuring meetings are conducted in accordance with adopted rules

  • Chairing the Nominating Committee

  • Coordinating annual bylaw review and proposed amendments

Helpful background:
Familiarity with Robert’s Rules of Order and nonprofit governance practices.

Notes:
The Parliamentarian remains impartial during meetings and votes only in limited circumstances.

Additional Notes

  • Executive Board officers are elected by the membership in accordance with the PFSO Bylaws.

  • Committees and committee chair appointments are determined by the newly elected Executive Board, and identification and appointment of committee chairs may begin as soon as officers are elected, in advance of the start of the term.

  • Committee structure may vary from year to year based on organizational needs, priorities, and available volunteers.

  • Serving as an Executive Board officer does not automatically assign a committee chair role, though officers may collaborate with or support committees aligned with their responsibilities.

  • Communications / Newsletter / Social Media

  • Membership / Volunteer Coordination

  • Grants Review

  • Event-specific or project-specific committees
